It’s been quiet on the blog lately because I’ve actually been able to go back to work on movie sets despite covid wreaking havoc on all of our lives.
I’ve worked on a commercial, finished a movie that the virus shut down with only a week to go and then just finished another movie. It felt really good to get back on set.
Now I have a break so it’s back to baking! My son loves Whatchamacallit candy bars so when I saw this recipe, I knew I had to give it a go. He said they tasted very similar to the candy bar and judging by how fast they disappeared, everyone loved them.
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups flour
3/4 cup caramel baking bits
3/4 cup chopped peanuts
1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 Preheat oven to 350. Spray 9 x 13″ pan with cooking spray.
2 Cream butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs, vanilla, caramel topping, and salt and beat on low until fluffy.
3 Sift baking powder and flour and slowly add to butter mixture. Stir in caramel bits, peanuts, and Rice Krispies by hand. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 28 – 30 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
4 Microwave whipping cream and chocolate chips for 1 minute then stir. Continue microwaving for 30 seconds then stirring until mixture is smooth. Spread over cooled bars.
