Train Birthday Cake

Both my parents have birthdays in July but they live in Illinois so we don’t get to see them that often let alone celebrate birthdays with them.  They just came for a visit so I thought it would be fun to have a joint birthday party for them while they were here.  I made my train loving dad this train cake.  Stay tuned tomorrow for the cake that I made for my mom.

Train Birthday Cake – Engine and Coal Car

I love the engine, Dad ate that first.  I filled two of the cars with Black Sugar Pearls to make them into coal cars.

I used Hershey flavored Twizzlers for the train tracks.  And I found those cute candles at Walmart.

Train Birthday Cake – Coal Car and Caboose

Strawberry Shortcake seemed like the way to go with this cake so I baked the little cakes in my Nordic Ware Train Cake Pan using a vanilla cake mix then served it with strawberries and fresh whipped cream.  It was delicious!
