“Extinct” Cupcakes

“Extinct” Cupcakes

I am currently working on a sci fi tv series for BYUtv called “Extinct”.  I can’t say much about it yet so these cupcakes that I made for the crew for Christmas will be a bit of a teaser for you, maybe it will make you curious enough to watch the show which I think is going to be really good!

“Extinct” Alien Cupcake

It’s not a sci fi show without aliens right?  Ours aren’t little blue men, or are they?

“Extinct” Drone Cupcake

This red gumball represents one of the drones from the show, there are others as well.

“Extinct” Obelisk Cupcake

There’s also an obelisk, it’s not made out of licorice like this one but the burning question seems to be, is it a good obelisk or a bad obelisk?

“Extinct” Sparks Cupcake

These blue sprinkles are standing in for the Sparks in the show, what are Sparks?  Stay tuned . . .

“Extinct” Weed Cupcake

I can guarantee you that these licorice “weeds” are tastier than the “weeds” in the show.

“Extinct” Crystal Cupcakes

There are crystals in the show too, not as pretty as these crystal sprinkles.  They may or may not have something to do with the bad guys on the show.

So there you have it, the “Extinct” teaser cupcakes.  Below find the recipe I used to make these little babies which by the way were delicious!

1 box cake mix, your choice of flavor

3 eggs

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 cup water

Mix all ingredients together on low for 1 minute then on medium for 1 minute.  Fill cupcake liners.  Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

I frosted them with my favorite Buttercream Icing, recipe for that here. And, for an added bonus, right when they came out of the oven, I cut an “X” into the top of each cupcake with my kitchen shears and then pressed an unwrapped Lindt Lindor chocolate truffle into the center of each cupcake.  They melt right in there and make the creamiest and yummiest surprise filling!
