Courtney is always asking for chocolate cake for dessert and every holiday I’m always like I’m going to make this tart or this cobbler or this trifle but for Easter I decided to make her chocolate cake cause I’m great! This is a “Six Sisters’ Stuff” recipe and it was easy and delicious and super chocolatey!
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 cup hot water
1 Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9 x 13″ pan.
2 Combine all dry ingredients in large bowl. Mix in oil, buttermilk and eggs. Once batter is fully mixed, pour in hot water and mix well. (Batter will be runny.)
3 Pour batter into pan. Bake 33- 38 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. When cake is cool, frost with Mom’s Chocolate Frosting and top with sprinkles.
Mom’s Chocolate Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 tablespoons cocoa
3 cups powdered sugar
Mix all ingredients with mixer until smooth and spreadable.
